Debby Monkhouse at Greenwich Time to Talk (which is based in The Royal Borough of Greenwich) has contacted us to advise us that Greenwich Time to Talk still have some places available for their next OCD Group, which will be starting up in April 2013.
Debby has provided the following information about their OCD Group. Debby advised us that: "Greenwich Time to Talk, part of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, are offering a FREE CBT Treatment Group for OCD. Research evidence shows that CBT is an effective treatment for OCD. The group starts at the beginning of April 2013, at the Greenwich Time to Talk office in Eltham (in Greenwich Borough), and runs for 12 weeks on Tuesday mornings. Participants need to live in Greenwich Borough, or have a Greenwich Borough GP, to register. Sessions will cover:
- Understanding OCD.
- What keeps OCD going.
- Techniques to reduce the power of unhelpful thoughts.
- Planning how to address rituals in manageable steps.
- Techniques to manage and reduce anxiety.
- Revisiting what helped, and thinking how to maintain progress after the group.
"The group consists of structured exercises, and participants can decide what, and how much, to share. Participants usually report reduced OCD symptoms, and some participants no longer meet criteria for OCD at the end of the group. Participants also report benefits from being in a group: understanding that they are not alone, and learning from the steps people take.
"If you are interested in registering for the Group, please contact Greenwich Time to Talk on tel: 020 3260 1100 and ask to speak to Debby Monkhouse or Pam Proud. One of us will call you back to discuss this further."

(Please note: the above information has been provided by Greenwich Time to Talk, which is part of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. If you have any questions about this group, or you think you might be interested in taking part in this treatment group, then you should contact Greenwich Time to Talk directly, using the telephone number shown above.)
